I won't skip a cutscene unless I'm the last vote. I figure if there's someone there who wants to see the movie, they might not have such trouble with that aforementioned pressure if at least one other player hangs in there with them.
Same here, no matter how many times I have seen a cut scene I will not skip it unless I am the very last one OR we have all agreed beforehand. I am not going to pressure someone to skip a cut scene.
I was just running a character to EotN the first time and was able to notice a few tapestries and such. It's just to bad that the area cant be explorable later, because it looks as though someone spent a lot of time on the details for the short 2 minute run.
It's over now but the whole of that "run" is included in the mausoleum in the Halloween quest "Commandeering a Mortal Vessel". If once you've killed everything during the quest you go explore it is quite massive and includes at least 5 dungeons floors worth of areas.
'Tis a shame i didn't take any screenies of it, but i showed alot of the murals and tapestries to the missus when i helped her with the quest.

Has anyone tried fighting off those waves of Destroyers? I've never tried it.
Aye i have and unfortunately although you can usually manage to kill quite a few of them they just keep coming wave after wave, same with the destruction Depths mission/quest just before you enter the portal to the 3rd level. It's a bit like BFLA before the nerf x10 (except you don't get the 1min break between waves after you kill 1).
Location: Buying Humps! (No kidding! Check my buy thread)
Guild: Hello Kitty Krewe [HKK] Forever!-ish
Yep, agreed. The destroyer waves never seemed to stop.
Years ago, a buddy and I ...(warning - button below really does contain a spoiler! It's the first time I've used these new buttons for their intended purpose!)
... jumped the path in The Frost Gate. We did it to work on our Cartography titles, but we thought it would be fun to see if we could "save" Rurik from the swarms of Stone Summit that get at him since we were down there anyway. We fought and fought them, but they just never stop spawning and coming at you. We certainly weren't running builds suited to much fighting, so it might be possible to hold out indefinitely down there. But the waves of low level dwarves eventually wiped us out.
I figure that's what the AI must feel like when we attack them with minions or spirits - overwhelming numbers of low-level things pestering you to death. It gave me new respect for teachers.
EDIT - @ Blade below - Ah so! Thanks for the info! ... oh, and the more Princess Bride references in this game or anything to do with this game, the better!

A year or two before TA has been removed I noticed the map with the dragon obelisks has a beautiful picture of a woman on one of the ruins' walls. Was a nice surprise to see such art in pvp too.
That's Melandru!

All that area is reused for Mausoleum in Halloween quest...spent hours exploring it this year, apparently it's like the matrix for most dungeons but also has some very unique parts (tapestries Utopia-style etc) and it all was soo cool!
1) If you flag your hero near a portal and if you die somewhere, you can get the hero to tele to you by flagging him/her through the portal. I never knew you could do this until a runner who was running me did this a while back. You can take advantage of UA monk to quickly ress you if you are solo running, so you don't have to bother with ress shrine
2) There is a cave in Southern Shiverpeak that if you enter, you can see/hear an a satellite like object near the shrine(which looked non-guild wars canon related). I never knew this until I started cartographing. It was bizarre and surreal when I first came across it.

I have already reached Nundu Bay in Nightfall and the Ice Caves of Sorrow in Prophecies when I found out yesterday that there are storybooks that record our missions for exp and gold. <_< Luckily my account/main was only 25 days old so I could purchase the missing pages....

Been awhile since I've been there but that's where you get IDS(Icy Dragon Sword). May just have to venture back there and get another.
This one is embarrassing, but after 12,820 hours of GW I just found sunspear arena. I always wondered why I couldnt carto that one lil bit by kamadan...lol
I just cannot fathom skipping a cut scene the first time it comes up. It is what we used to call, eye candy. It was one of the major reasons behind playing the game so that you could see the cut scenes and all the hard work that went into them.
It is also one of the huge issues I have with another game I am playing right now. No cut scenes at all. The game, while fun enough to play, feels empty of any real story.
Hello, are you me?
But seriously, I remember when cut scenes were nicely rendered cgi that probably took 40% of the games budget, also FMV was nice too if the acting was good(Crusader, C&C, Dune).
After much reading about the issue, the reason most developers opt for less to no cinematic is because it apparently makes the player feel like they are not "into the game" but more like passive viewers.
I lol. I don't need to "FEEL THE EXPERIENCE" and won't rage batshit because I am not "in control" etc etc...
Anyway, also I find games that use the in-game engine for cut scenes kinda sloppy too. Sorry Anet. But look how amazing the trailers are, why couldn't that kind of quality be in the game's opening/closing scenes?
Holy shit, I'm rambling.
Oh but on-topic, anything HM I always found is implied skipping because I just assume you saw it when doing nm.

Thats a shame. I don't think I would have played through starcraft 1 or 2 if it wern't for the cutscenes. Guild Wars doesn't need better ones but they would make the game more awesome.

I noticed this just a few months ago and now I use this when vanquishing and there is that last mob I missed somewhere. I just park the heroes at a portal and then pop a candy for speed so i can search faster without heroes falling behind.
Then when I find the last of the enemies, I teleport the heroes to me
Not quite a feature as other point out, but running around in FoW I suddenly noticed this. Guess I've been too busy killing to actually notice these guys.
Even after about 5 years of playing, I'm still amazed by the art and scenery in Guild Wars.
You know the War in Kryta explorable areas - Divinity Coast and D'Alessio Seaboard? Once you've finished the War, they're still accessible, and empty of hostiles of any kind. Be handy if I didn't already have Tyrian Cartographer, but...
Still, kind of neat to wander around in, though a bit creepy; other than a scattering of Villagers, they're basically empty. Pretty, though.
